Indulge is a satisfying end to #TEAMJEX story

What a great follow up to book Impulse—In this book, we get to see Lex and Jillian and their great love story. They are dealing with planning their impending wedding, Jillian’s newfound grandmother, her having to deal with the paparazzi on the site of her job and many other issues cropping up but as always they deal with it together.

In this book there is adventure, intrigue, danger, romance and erotically steamy scenes between Lex and Jillian that is fantastic. In this book, there are secrets that Lex has been hiding from his past that are coming out from the woodwork and are affecting his upcoming wedding. There is serious danger coming at the couple that means them harm-is it from Lex or Jillian’s side? Will the wedding take place or will the evil win? Well, not if their friends and family have anything to say about it. Let me say, Lex’s Infinitus buddies are ready to take action to keep Lex and Jillian safe and sound. All I can say, I would love to have them keep me safe from harm. I can’t wait for Lex’s Infinitus Billionaires boys to have their books come out. They all sound like they have great stories that need to be told.

Lex and Jillian give off this great blend of chemistry, internal heat and the love scenes are panty melting fantastic. I will say there are times when I was screaming at my kindle and other times when I was crying because of how wonderful Lex was to Jillian or Jillian was to Lex. This couple went thru some major storms and storms they were. Loved how they handled it and it was great to see previous secondary characters in this book, for it was great catching up with them and seeing how they are doing. There are some twists along the way and the ending, it was something I did NOT see coming. Be prepared to be amazed and surprised. #TEAMJEX all the way.

First if you have not read the first book that is a must!! And while u r at it I would read all the Fitzgerald books they r amazing!!
This book starts out right were the last left off witch is something I love! It has everything I love in a novel.. action, romance, adult entertainment, strong leading lady, twists, and let's not forget the most important part a stubborn hot alpha male!
In this book you will get to see how Lex and Jillian s story ends, and it's not a cliff hanger. You also get to see more of the other billionaire s!
So to wrap this up u need to read this book!!!!

I am not one to write long drawn out reviews because I hate reading them and I know there are others that feel the same. I just want to know if the book is worth reading and that's it.
I will say this one is definitely worth reading. E.B. Walters has done it again. This is the conclusion of Lex and Jillian's story that started in Impulse. It did not disappoint. The story is so well written that I could not put it down and read it in less than a day. It is full of love, romance, steamy love scenes (of course), and drama. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I melted, and I stayed on the edge of my seat wanting more!! Walters is a genius and master at story telling. I would recommend this and any of her other books to anyone that loves to read.

About the Author

R.C. Hibbeler graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana with a BS in Civil Engineering (major in Structures) and an MS in Nuclear Engineering. He obtained his PhD in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Northwestern University.

Hibbeler’s professional experience includes postdoctoral work in reactor safety and analysis at Argonne National Laboratory, and structural and stress analysis work at Chicago Bridge and Iron, as well as Sargent and Lundy in Chicago. �He has practiced engineering in Ohio, New York, and Louisiana.

Hibbeler currently teaches both civil and mechanical engineering courses at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. In the past he has taught at the University of Illinois at Urbana, Youngstown State University, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Union College.

Not the same as hardcover

The paperback version of this book is NOT the same as the hardcover. The paperback version is in black and white, says on the cover that it's only supposed to be distributed in India, is missing tables and example problems, and is not 912 pages as advertised, it's only 876. Inside the cover it says it's an "authorized adaptation" of the actual book.

good as always
By what
just to be clear: I bought the hardcover version that amazon sells ($180). It is brand new and in full color, like the one in the picture. People who are angry over the cheap/bad copies probably got their copy from marketplace sellers that sell international editions.

Hibbeler is the primary author professors go to for pre-engineering. The book is always straightforward with plenty of examples.

PROS:
- the addition of preliminary problems and fundamental problems. They're basically easy problems that don't require that much calculation, but it builds a nice foundation for the harder problems that come later. The solutions to these types are in the back.

CONS: For a 9th edition there are a lot of typos. I'm guessing Hibbeler was pressured by the publisher to come out with this edition by a certain deadline. Still, it doesn't take away from you actually learning the material, so no biggie. I'm just bitter because I had to spend almost 200 bucks for a freaking book.

if you bought hibbeler's statics&dynamics 13e book you can see my rant on the similarity between editions. The same goes here. As always publishers are looking to make more money off broke students, so even though not much has changed since the last edition, you still have this book that covers the exact same material but with a different cover picture. If your professor uses mastering engineering, or doesn't use the problem sets from this book at all, then save your money and buy the 8th edition for like 20 bucks.

Great Value, but Watch Out for These Points!

Seems to be an accurate duplication of the much more expensive hardcover version. However, some important differences to note are:

-The entire contents are black and white (a graph referring to a red line and a blue line is difficult to understand)

-There aren't any reference formulas or moduli in the front or back cover of the book. (several homework problems require this information.)

Great Review Book For BC Calculus

My teacher had us buy this book at the begining of the year, and she assigned problems from it, and is has been invaluable. The problems it gives are not your standard textbook plug-in-the formula questions. There are some of those, but most of the questions require some thinking and an actual understanding of Calculus. Even though I switched teachers, I still used the book to help review for tests, and it has worked great. This is a great buy for anyone who needs a supplement of questions to help study from during the school year for BC calculus. The only negative about the book is that it lacks detailed explanations. It only gives the answers and also gives a cross reference of questions by topics.

best thing to ever use

Seriously, its multiple choice questions are the closest you can get to the actual exam. The free-response is iffy. I'd go with the Barron's review book for the free-response questions. However, if you can ace the multiple choice questions, you should have no problem with getting a 4 or a 5 on the actual exam. I used this book religiously (mostly because of my teacher) and I got a 5 on the BC Calc exam as well as a 5 on the AB subscore.

The best scientists love to tackle big, meaningful questions like this, and neuroscientist Antonio Damasio jumps right in with The Feeling of What Happens, a poetic examination of interior life through lenses of research, medical cases, philosophical analysis, and unashamed introspection. Damasio's perspective is, fortunately, becoming increasingly common in the scientific community; despite all the protestations of old-guard behaviorists, subjective consciousness is a plain fact to most of us and the demand for new methods of inquiry is finally being met.

Tackling a great complex of questions that poets, artists and philosophers have contemplated for generations, Damasio (Descartes' Error) examines current neurological knowledge of human consciousness. Significantly, in key passages he evokes T.S. Eliot, Shakespeare and William James. In Eliot's words, consciousness is "music heard so deeply/ That it is not heard at all." It, like Hamlet, begins with the question "Who's there?" And Damasio holds that there is, as James thought, a "stream of" consciousness that utilizes every part of the brain. Consciousness, argues Damasio, is linked to emotion, to our feelings for the images we perceive. There are in fact several kinds of consciousness, he says: the proto-self, which exists in the mind's constant monitoring of the body's state, of which we are unaware; a core consciousness that perceives the world 500 milliseconds after the fact; and the extended consciousness of memory, reason and language. Different from wakefulness and attention, consciousness can exist without language, reason or memory: for example, an amnesiac has consciousness. But when core consciousness fails, all else fails with it. More important for Damasio's argument, emotion and consciousness tend to be present or absent together. At the height of consciousness, above reason and creativity, Damasio places conscience, a word that preceded conciousness by many centuries. The author's plain language and careful redefinition of key points make this difficult subject accessible for the general reader. In a book that cuts through the old nature vs. nurture argument as well as conventional ideas of identity and possibly even of soul, it's clear, though he may not say so, that Damasio is still on the side of the angels. Thought provoking, but controversial....

I liked this book very much and found it to be quite thought provoking. While it can be criticized on various grounds including being difficult to follow, having redundancies and containing a lot of speculation, it still provides good theoretical concepts that are plausible and worth considering.

I also like that Damasio is focusing significant attention on the role of the emotions in thinking and consciousness in general. Although it might turn out that things aren't quite what he says, he has set a new benchmark for explorations in this area and made difficult concepts accessible to large numbers of people. This can only help our understanding of emotions and consciousness as more talented people become involved in studying these areas.

I also like Damasio's other books, which are much more readable, but somewhat less fascinating. If you want to wade into reading some of Demasio's more accessible work, then "Looking for Spinoza" might be a better place to start.

I don't fault Demasio for including non-scientific speculations or using empirical case studies to back up some of his thinking. Clearly, he is doing some philosophizing and in an area such as consciousness, I don't know how one could avoid this. I value scientific rigor, but I also don't dismiss creative thinking. After all, it is usually at the level of intuition that most great discoveries get their start.

I do have a bias that consciousness is more than an epiphenomenon. Therefore, I accept validity criteria outside of the scientific method that might be appropriate to studying subjective phenomenon. Interestingly, it is difficult to study love via the scientific method, yet people are willing to give up their lives for love. While I can't look at love under a microscope, I am convinced it exists. I think the study of consciousness brings up similar kinds of epistemological difficulties, so I can forgive Demasio for pushing the limits of the current scientific paradigm and its underlying assumptions. I find him provocative, but in a good way.

I believe it is the fact that words are fuzzier than mathematics that allows someone like Shakespeare to express beautiful thoughts poetically. While mathematics might be more precise, it can't always capture every dimension of human experience. In a similar way, I don't think initial inquiries into the nature of consciousness can avoid speculation or a lack of precision at times. I give the guy credit for taking the whole question on in the first place. At least he is asking the important questions and taking a "swing at the ball" in terms of explaining them in a way that engages others in meaningful dialogue and further research.

Another Chance for the Affective Domain

"There would have been good reason to expect that, as the new century started the expanding brain sciences would make emotion part of their agenda.... But that...never came to pass. ...Twentieth Century science...moved emotion back into the brain, but relegated it to the lower neural strata associated with ancestors whom no one worshipped. In the end, not only was emotion not rational, even studying it was probably not rational." Damasio, 1999, p. 39

With that statement, Damasio courageously took his own discipline's psychologists and neuroscientists to the woodshed for ignoring the importance of the affective domain, and that quotation perhaps explains the love-hate relationship that different reviewers express about this particular book.

His observation is verifiable. One source is the history of citations on "emotion regulation" in the Handbook of Emotion Regulation by James J. Gross, editor. Another is the consignment of Benjamin Bloom's research team's second volume Taxonomy of Educational Objectives Book 2/Affective Domain to a collector's item in used book heaps. In all honesty, that 1964 volume was decades ahead of its time, well before Damasio's, and it is still a useful resource if you can get a copy. It is unfortunate how quickly its importance was dismissed, but Damasio's statement largely shows why Bloom's older volume 1 on the cognitive domain Taxonomy of Educational Objectives, Handbook 1: Cognitive Domain received a much warmer reception. John Dunlosky and Janet Metcalfe Metacognition noted that history reveals psychologists according metacognition with similar low status and held metacognition hostage for a time as an aspect of consciousness not worth the study.

Damasio's work seems instrumental in accounting for the exponential upswing in research on affect. I found the book fascinating, not particularly difficult reading, and a useful resource to me as a college teacher and faculty developer. I've recommended it to many professors.

A scientist turns philosphical

Until this century, philosophers were generally people with immense scientific and empirical expertise who also asked, "So what does it all amount to?" Now, we have scientists who don't know how to think about that question and philosophers who have no body of knowledge to think about when they ask it. Dimasio breaks the mold: Using the medium of a trade book to raise rigorous philosophical thinking unwelcomed within science, he provides the finest theory of mind since William James. This book is a model of how we ought to be thinking about minds: using both careful philosophical reflection to know what to make of scientific information, and scientific information to know which theories we should even bother thinking about any longer, Dimasio escapes the blinkered (and misleading) thinking of true-believer scientists and no-knowing philosphers.

Extremely impressed with this work, highly recommended.

There is very little -even after 60 plus years, material on the Imperial Japanese navy written by western authors. The ones I've seen are biased, repeat cliches, or are simply inaccurate. I know now that Mitsuo Fuchida's account of Japan's failure at the battle of Midway is largely questioned, even rejected in Japan but has been the basis for many books in the western world.

Hallelujah, this author does not make mistakes like that. He took the trouble of combing through thousands of microfiched archives taken directly from the Japanese at the end of the war. His knowledge of the Japanese language is definitely a plus as he explains more than once how subtle nuances in translation between Japanese and other languages can alter the meaning of the content. This was evident in the intelligence gathered by the Americans, as the author points out.

The book starts with an explanation on how militarism had dominated Japan's politics and how even Yamamoto risked assassination over his opposition to a war with the USA. You get a flavor on what it was like to be a naval cadet or officer in the pre-war imperial navy. Dull also points out some of the misconceptions and political mistakes that the US government made that may have contributed to Japan's decision to go to war. One of the key points in the book is the statement from Admiral Nagano to none other than the emperor stating that Japan must go to war, even though it is a war she very likely will lose but a nation not willing to fight for her survival is doomed anyway.

Dull also mentions that the Japanese had some knowledge of the US Navy 'rainbow' plan, a plan crafted in case of war against Japan, in that the basic strategy was the island-hoping that later became a reality.

Every major or even medium sized engagement or operation is covered, using the Japanese name for such. For example, the battle for Savo Island is known to the other side as the First Battle of Solomon Islands. The author paints the battles, by phase, extrapolating the Japanese interpretation as well as the opposing one, resulting in the most accurate assessment possible, as each side frequently misjudges the enemy's position and intentions or actions during the heat of combat.

The text is extremely readable, you cannot put this book down. There aren't many photos but they are not missed. Dull's style flows naturally, making his a very pleasant book, and the amount of information given is simply astounding. Book is over 400 pages, but I read it in less than 5 days, it is that good. I'm now on my second pass, discovering new facts that either escaped my grasp or simply forgot. This book is a keeper, and it should form the basis for many future books on the theme.

Thorough overview of the IJN

Paul Dull's work is shorter than Morison's compendium on the US Navy in WWII, but no less important. Published 30 after the war, it presents a tidy account of the IJN. Research from hundreds of reels of microfilm. Maps/illustrations suffer only from the technology used in 1978and the small size format of the book. Don't expect detailed discussion on doctrine or decisive battle. One can find other works that expand on any of the battles or campaigns.

Best read as an overview of the IJN in WWII. Later works may call some of the book into question, but that is the fate of any book that covers a topic for the first time in history: to suffer the slings and arrows of further study. Ditto Samuel Morrison's compendium on the US Navy in WWII.
