Beautiful Book Inside and Out
By Favorite Christian Books
This is a beautifully designed book. I liked the size of the book and it feels good holding it. The color makes it more favorable for women, but the contents are fitting for all. This is a dated devotional, but does not have a February 29th.

The devotions are excellent. The author provides a scripture for each devotion and she uses different versions of the Bible. The devotions are thoughtful and well written. The devotions end with a sentence or two that should act as a prompt for prayer.

The only negative I have for this devotion is they opted to print the words in a complimentary color to the cover color instead of black print. Now that I’m over 50 I’m finding it more difficult to read color print like used in this book.

I would definitely buy this book for a friend.

Daily Peaceful Devotions
By Conny
“This 365-day devotional will help you release your worries to God and discover the peace that only He can give,” the back jacket states in Cheri Cowell’s book, 365 Devotions for Peace.

~ What ~
At four hundred pages, this hardbound for women that is meant to be read daily throughout a year blends present day with references to God in regard to having peace. Using mainly the New International Version of the Holy Bible, also referenced are the NCV, NASB, NKJV, MSG, and Voice.

The book is separated into fifteen sections that range from fourteen to almost fifty pages each, all focusing on peace. Themes include the New Year, love, justice, God, workplace, home, within, heart, times of trouble, calm the storm, others, thanksgiving, peacemakers, the future, and the world.

Each date per page starts with a title and written-out Bible verse, followed by several paragraphs that usually begin with an everyday topic or idea, later linking it to the Biblical topic. The page ends with a short one or two sentence prayer.

~Why ~
Without writing much about her personal experiences, the author notes topics from television commercials, corporations, hope chests to a clean home, wealth, the brain, and our sinful nature to name a few. I like that I could relate to the majority of the topics and how they correlated with Christ.

~ Why Not ~
Some women may not like themed devotions so would pass on this book. Others may prefer only reading the Scriptures as their daily reading.

~ Who ~
Speaker and graduate of Ashbury Theological Seminary, Cowell is an author of several books. She has established a non-profit charity organization to help communities.

~ Wish ~
I wish the book had more about God and less about the world, but that is my preference in my daily devotions.

~ Want ~
If you like devotionals that you can relate to as you go through your busy days throughout the year, this is a peaceful reminder of God always being there for us that should be read along with the Bible.

Thanks to Book Look Bloggers for furnishing this complimentary book in exchange for a review based on my unbiased, honest opinion.

A great way to start your day!
By Rosie
I have been trying t o wake up before Jimmie for about a month now. Some days it is painful and I hit snooze, most days I know it is something I have to do and I drag myself to my coffee machine. Waking up on your own free will, instead of to a crying baby, is a game changer. You can get up, relax, pee alone, and make some coffee. And, of course, scan Facebook and check your email uninterrupted. It doesn’t hurt that Jimmie sleeps until 7 or 8 (on most days), which makes my wake-up time around 6:45.

Back in December, I chose to review 365 Devotions for Peace by Cheri Cowell. I thought it would be a great way to start the New Year. Unfortunately, the book was on back order and I just received it this week. Either way, I started reading it as soon as it came in the mail. The book is a beautiful pink color. It is small enough to fit in a large purse, but big enough to read without straining your eyes.

Each day includes a line of scripture, a story of sorts that relates to the scripture, and a prayer. I have started to include this daily devotion book into my morning routine. Each page takes less than five minutes to read, but the words sit within me for the rest of the day, reminding me that God is always there. The book came at the right time. Maybe I didn’t need it as much when the New Year started, but I sure have needed more prayers in my life lately.

Jimmie’s sleep schedule has been erratic. He fought naps for three weeks after finally giving up last week. His naps don’t last nearly as long now, no more than an hour, but it is better than him crying for an hour. He also started waking up during the night a few weeks ago on a regular basis; an issue we haven’t really had since he was a newborn. Of course, he had his nights where he was teething, sick, or couldn’t get his foot unstuck from the crib bars, but otherwise his sleep habits have always been great. I pray that this is only a season, I pray that peace is restored to Jimmie so he can rest and grow. I also pray that I don’t have to get up out of bed to soothe him because it is too cold. But most of all, I pray for patience, something I thought came with this whole parenting thing. I was wrong.

No matter what season of life you are going through, 365 Devotions for Peace by Cheri Cowell will help guide you through it, make you think, and fill your heart with joy. This devotions book is geared towards women, hence the pink cover. The only thing that caught me off guard was the fact that there isn’t a devotion for February 29; I guess I will have to make up my own.
