About the Author
EVE HEROLD is a science writer specializing in issues at the intersection of science and society. She has written and spoken extensively about stem cell research and regenerative medicine and the social and bioethical aspects of leading-edge medicine. She is the past director of the Office of Communications and Public Affairs at the American Psychiatric Association and has served as Director of Public Policy Research and Education for the Genetics Policy Institute.

A EXCELLENT READ ABOUT THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE

Beyond Human is a very good nonfiction book. Anyone who might end up caring for an aged one should read it. And anyone getting old should read it. Why, because death and taxes are no longer certain. At least “death” is no longer certain. But before we get to the solutions for aging, which are explored in this book, the author shows us that there is a path we will follow, and are following now, toward the prolongation of life. This can be a blessing at first. But if it goes on long enough it can end up a complete horror show. This book points to the issues and conversations you should be exploring with family, friends and physicians.
Having said this, and without being a spoiler, let me reveal that you probably have met someone who will be alive for the next 1,000 years. Could that person be you?

It's fun to project oneself into the future. Eve Herold's book does just that and gives much to think about and raises many ethical questions we must address as we move toward's the next 50 years and beyond. An excellent read.
