In the seventh grade, Judith Lown fell in love with Mr. Darcy---and Regency Romance. Later she discovered Georgette Heyer's resourceful heroines and dashing heroes. After career detours as a receptionist, social worker, psychotherapist, and English teacher, Judith fulfilled her life's dream of writing her own historical romance.

A Lively Waltz

A Match for Lady Constance is a lively, tongue-in-cheek waltz through the manners and morals of early 19th-Century English society. Lady Constance Hatton is a headstrong (today, we might call her gutsy) young woman who cleverly avoids marrying an array of highly-eligible twits until she finally, and satisfyingly, winds up in the arms of a charming Frenchman.
I'm looking forward to more from author Judith Lown.

Very witty

Two very intelligent people are thrown together by chance and find love on the way to the altar. It's a love at first sight story, where quite a bit of the time our hero is away elsewhere and the heroine in required to trust her instincts and intelligence. A very tough trial of love, and a clever story. I might have given it five stars except that I have waited so long for something else to show up on Kindle after Judith Lawn's A Sansible Lady, which I love with all my heart. This previous book is way up there with my most beloved Carla Kelly's. It is one of the sweetest cleverest romances I've read, and this one just wasn't as wonderful. Still above average, do read it, but don't miss A Sensible Lady.

A charming, civilized romance

I enjoyed this book a great deal. Lown's writing is straightforward, elegant, and charming. What I especially appreciated is the fact that her heroine isn't a fool. Instead, although she sometimes reaches the wrong conclusions based on the information available to her, she doesn't do the typical romance-heroine thing of acting foolishly on her assumptions. Instead, she thinks things through, deals with her love interest openly and honestly, and generally is a very likable person, and one with whom you feel sympathy throughout the book.
If you're looking for an intelligent, wholesome romance novel, this is the book for you.
